UCI, Eat Your Heart Out.

More GoPro goodness from Christian Heule. This time, it’s from the World Cup at Hoogerheide, NED.

I was going to accuse Christian of playing this video slightly sped up, but then I would be an idiot.

Congratulations, Christian, your “Exclusive Access” footage has won you the Twitter battle. Send me Swiss Chocolate.

The Belgian Binge.

Some, or many, of you may know that I chose to leave behind booze, and the occasional narcotic, two years, six months and eight days ago.

Approximately…

Any of you who have ever abused drugs or booze know the feeling of waking up the morning - or night - after a night - or morning - that was a little too much fun. You feel so terrible you say something like, “I am never doing that again.”

Your friends laugh and say, “Yeah, never heard that before.”

Two days later you’re hammered again and in a few hours you’ll swear off the shit again.

Repeat.

This trip we just finished four days ago has left me feeling the same way. While it was happening, it was like being on a binge I couldn’t stop. I felt like shit most of the time. I was anxious, jittery, depressed, ecstatic, exhausted, and overwhelmed for almost every minute.

But it was different than the binge that may or may not have left me lost in a Roxbury alleyway with too much cash in my pockets and not enough wits in my brain.

Having said I hated Belgium and everyone in it, I don’t think I meant it. Maybe I did. But like booze and drugs, the hangover only lasts so long, and here I am, four days later, ready to go back.

Now.

As our Kickstarter Campaign draws to a close this evening, I thought it appropriate that I share one last collection of Todd’s photos and try to express my gratitude for this horribly awesome experience.

Because of Tim Johnson, the supporters of our campaign, the sponsors ———————>
Brake Through Media, Todd Prekaski, my wife (God bless her) and the many great people in the sport of cyclocross I was able to participate in something that, should it be the last time I am afforded the opportunity to do something like this, will forever stand in my memory as one of the most beautiful collisions of so many of my passions and aspirations.

I tried really hard not to swear very much over the last two weeks, but sometimes a little fuck goes a long way. That’s what she said? As you look through these photos taken by Todd, please know that this project has been one of the most fucking awesome things I have ever been a part of and I will not sleep (ask Todd for confirmation of this) until this DVD is as great as it needs to be to repay everyone who made it possible.

Some of my favorites:

I can’t wait for my second year of cyclocross…

Our Wives Are Stuck in 20 Inches of Snow.

What the hell am I talking about?

I don’t really know, because it’s 3:30 am. But you need content.

The audio is a little tough on this cut, because Francis Mourey insisted on having his bike washed behind us.

So here:

Do You Want to Talk About My Race?

The latest installment from the B-Roll footage.

Honestly, to me, our races don’t seem to be that different.
